Exited due to injury before the half-hour mark with Bayern Munich on the Augsburg pitch (2-3) on Saturday January 27, Kingsley Coman suffers from a torn lateral ligament in his left knee, and will be absent for several weeks, announced the Bavarian club in the evening.

The Frenchman collapsed in the area after a lost aerial duel against opposing striker Phillip Tietz, falling on him involuntarily, which resulted in a twisted knee. Kingsley Coman remained lying down, and returned to the bench helped by two members of the Munich staff, no longer able to put his foot on the ground. He was seen leaving the WWK Arena on crutches.

Uncertain for the next gathering of the Blues

“We have to wait for the scans, but it’s a pretty serious injury, Thomas Tuchel, the Bayern Munich coach, feared at a post-match press conference. We fear a ligament injury. He will probably be absent one moment.” The much-feared hypothesis of a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament was quickly ruled out by Bavarian doctors, but its absence should be counted for several weeks.

This injury to the French international strongly compromises his participation in the next gathering of the France team at the end of March to face Germany and Chile, the last friendly matches before the announcement of the list for Euro 2024 in Germany (June 14-July 14).

Holder in the Bayern attack on the right or left side alternating with Leroy Sané, Coman will also miss important deadlines with the Munich club, starting with the clash against the leader, Bayer Leverkusen in two weeks (10 February, 6:30 p.m.), decisive in the title race.

Sacha Boey, another Frenchman at Bayern

The Recorder will, however, be able to count on another Frenchman, Sacha Boey, right back who arrived from Galatasaray on Sunday January 28 against a check for 30 million euros and five million bonuses. He is committed until 2028.

The 23-year-old joins three other French people in Thomas Tuchel’s squad: Kingsley Coman, Dayot Upamecano and Mathys Tel. Trained at Stade Rennes, like Mathys Tel, before joining Galatasaray in the summer of 2021, with whom he won the Turkish league title last season, he is Bayern’s second winter recruit, after English defender Eric Dier.
