From Monday March 1, manufacturers and advertisers will have to display the carbon score of vehicles, but also prevention messages encouraging less pollution. Journalist Maeva Damoy, present on the set of 12/13, takes stock of the situation.

A small revolution in the automotive sector. From Tuesday March 1, manufacturers are obliged to display the carbon score of their vehicles in advertisements. There should also be recommendation messages. “From now on, each time you see an advertisement for a vehicle, it will be accompanied by a message. For example: ‘Think about carpooling’, ‘For your short journeys, walk or cycle’. It is compulsory for all models and advertisers and manufacturers have three months to comply, on pain of a fine of 50,000”explains Maeva Damoy on the set of 12/13.

With this message, the government has one goal in mind: “That of meeting its objective, namely the end of internal combustion engines by 2035. This must be used to convince drivers of polluting vehicles to do without them. Within six years, no more advertising for the most polluting vehicles will be will be broadcast”, explains Maeva Damoy. This new prevention message is in addition to many others, such as “Eat move”, “Consume in moderation” or “Smoking kills”.
