Adrien Quatennens will not be part of the Nupes intergroup

Adrien Quatennens, reinstated within the LFI group after four months of suspension following a conviction for violence against his ex-companion, will not be part of the Nupes intergroup, the left-wing coalition, announced on Thursday April 13, the vice-president of the rebellious group Alexis Corbière on Public Senate.

He did not wish, like the other rebellious deputies, to reveal his vote during the secret ballot which was held on Tuesday within the group, and recorded the return of Adrien Quatennens. This decision was judged “unacceptable” by many Nupes allies. “I defend what has been adopted”, said Alexis Corbière. Asked if it would fracture the Nupes, he said he didn’t want to, but “Maybe it requires continuing to discuss”.

François Ruffin, for his part, recalled on franceinfo that he had always been in favor of Adrien Quatennens taking “a sabbatical year. Crossing the desert does no harm to anyone”he added, specifying that he had “voted accordingly”. Green MP Sandrine Rousseau estimated on RTL that Adrien Quatennens “should have resigned”. During the four months he sat among the unattached, “the only thing that LFI imposed on him in a way was that he be silent and it was not possible to respect this simple sanction”, since he spoke on several occasions in the hemicycle.
