Vincent Jeanbrun, Republican Right deputy for Val-de-Marne and mayor of Haÿ-les-Roses, was the guest of “8h30 franceinfo”, Friday September 27, 2024. Administrative detention of foreigners under OQTF, suppression of Aid state medical, investigation for illegal taking of interests… He answered questions from Bérengère Bonte and Hadrien Bect.
OQTF: “We are going to make proposals to extend” the retention period
“The goal is” that irregular immigrants “cannot come out of detention before being returned to their country of origin”affirms Vincent Jeanbrun. A bill from Republican deputies wants to extend the maximum duration of administrative detention from 90 to 135 days. “We will make proposals to extend this maximum deadline.”assures MP LR. “We must be able to go even further.”he adds, particularly for foreigners convicted of misdemeanors or crimes.
“We owe it to these families to be able to expel all OQTFs who have committed crimes and misdemeanors”estimates the spokesperson for the LR deputies, while the main suspect in the murder of Philippine, a young student found dead on September 20, is a Moroccan national targeted by an OQTF and already convicted of rape.
AME: “The aim will not be so much to eliminate it, but to transform it”
“Priority, we want to ensure that it is the French who have access to care, and foreigners in a legal situation”defends Vincent Jeanbrun, while the Minister of the Interior LR Bruno Retailleau announced that he wanted to return to State Medical Aid and transform it into Emergency Medical Aid. “The aim will not be so much to eliminate it, but to transform it”he justifies himself.
According to him, the AME “is terribly misused and there is a lot of exaggeration and abuse”. He assures that for emergency care, “of course, it’s a question of humanity”people will be taken care of, but he wants to change the “question of covering glasses, dental care 100%”.
Illegal taking of interests: “We will show the legality and good faith that is ours”
“We will show, without any difficulty, the legality and good faith that is ours”defends Vincent Jeanbrun regarding the preliminary investigation opened, in particular for illegal taking of interests by the Créteil public prosecutor’s office against him.
The mayor of Haÿ-les-Roses is accused of having housed his chief of staff and his chief of staff in two houses normally reserved for the intercommunal cemetery service, at a price five times below that of the market. “We are far from being in a palace, but it doesn’t matter, I am a citizen like everyone else, if there is an investigation, we are at the disposal of the justice system”.
