Animated by Louis-José Houde for a 17e consecutive year, starting at 8 p.m., the Gala will award ten Félix awards to a handful of artists in the most anticipated categories, such as Album of the Year — Popular Hit, Female Performer and Male Performer of the Year, and Song of the year, among others.

The Quebec Association of the Record, Entertainment and Video Industry (ADISQ) unveiled Wednesday the twenty artists who will tread the boards during the evening’s performances, such as Cœur de pirate, Corneille, Hubert Lenoir, Émile Bilodeau, Lisa LeBlanc and Edith Butler, to name a few.

The five artists nominated in the Revelation of the Year category, namely Ariane Roy, Étienne Coppée, Natasha Kanapé Fontaine, La Zarra and Jay Scott, will also take the stage for the occasion.

The Hubert Lenoir effect

Singer-songwriter Hubert Lenoir, who bagged three victories at the Premier Gala de l’ADISQ held at the MTELUS on November 2, is already the most awarded artist this year. His second album PICTURA DE IPSE: Direct Musicreleased in the fall of 2021, earned him 11 nominations, including the Industry Gala presented a little earlier at Club Soda.

The 28-year-old artist returned home with three Félix awards for Alternative Album of the Year, Critics’ Choice and International Collaboration of the Year for his duet with Bonnie Banane on the song Octembre. During the Gala de l’industrie, in the afternoon, he also received the Félix for arrangements of the year.

Lenoir is in the running for three other categories which will be presented on November 6 at 44e Gala de l’ADISQ, either Artist of the year – international influence, Male performer of the year and Author or composer of the year.

During the same evening, Roxane Bruneau, Mario Pelchat and Jay Scott, among others, will jostle for the Album of the Year award — popular success, while Cœur de pirate, Lisa LeBlanc, Ariane Moffatt and Vincent Vallières will try to win a Félix for Song of the Year, the two categories each counting ten nominations.

An “anemic” part

If the artists here will be in the spotlight on Sunday evening, the reality on the ground is quite different, indicated the director general of the ADISQ, Eve Paré, in a telephone interview.

While we are increasingly abandoning physical albums, “the share of French-speaking Quebec artists on the platforms of streamingshe is anemic to say the least,” she lamented.

Before, “half of the records that were sold were by Quebec artists. Today, in streaming, the share of Quebec artists in listening by Quebecers is 5%. So we really have a loss of speed which is worrying, which is alarming. »

She said she welcomes federal Bill C-11, which she says will force platforms to streaming promote Quebec content and contribute financially to its development.

The 44e Gala de l’ADISQ will be presented on November 6 at 7:30 p.m. on ICI Télé.
