The number of anti-Semitic acts has jumped in France since the October 7 attacks. There was violence, attacks on people and even comments that affected the school environment.

Since October 7 and the Hamas attack in Israel, anti-Semitism has progressed and become commonplace in France, as shown in a report produced in particular for Ifop. Since October, 25% of French Jews say they have been victims of an anti-Semitic incident, insults or aggression. The figure rises to 37% for those under 25. Schools and universities are the primary places of exposure to anti-Semitic acts. For six out of ten victims, the insults, threats or physical violence took place in a school.

6% of French people express sympathy for Hamas

Anti-Semitic theories are becoming more widespread among the young population. Thus, 45% of 25-34 year olds are receptive to it. According to the study, 10% of French people are anti-Semitic and 6% express sympathy for Hamas. There are around 500,000 French people of Jewish faith, many of whom live with the fear of attack.
