American actress Julianne Moore will chair the jury of the 79th Venice Film Festival, which will take place from August 31 to September 10 on the famous Lido of the City of the Doges, the Mostra announced on Friday July 15.
The 61-year-old actress, Oscar winner for Best Actress in 2015 for Still Alicewill be surrounded by Argentinian directors Mariano Cohn, Spanish Rodrigo Sorogoyen and Italian Leonardo Di Costanzo, French director Audrey Diwan, Golden Lion in 2021 for The eventIranian actress Leila Hatami, as well as Nobel Prize for Literature Kazuo Ishiguro, the organizers said in a statement.
The festival recalls the prestigious career of Julianne Moore, the first American to have won, in addition to her Oscar, the interpretation prizes at the three major festivals: at Cannes in 2014 for Maps to the starsin Berlin in 2003 for The Hours and finally in Venice in 2002 for far from paradise.
