From the small screen to reality. Actor Joseph Quinn, interpreter of the character of Eddie Mundon in the last season of Stranger Things joined the band Metallica backstage to play Master of Puppetsduring their visit to the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, Thursday, July 28.

In one of the scenes from Season 4 of Stranger ThingsEddie Mundon’s character plays this iconic track from the heavy metal band, Master of Puppets. A performance that created euphoria on social networks. “I’m a huge fan (of the series)”says Metallica singer James Hetfield, in a video released by Netflix. “I’ve been following her since season 1. This experience has been, for my children and me, an opportunity to get closer”. Before the concert, Joseph Quinn was able to meet the band backstage, discuss and strum the strings of his guitar with him.

A few minutes later, during their appearance on the Lollapalooza stage, the group paid a new tribute to the Netflix series: they played Master of Puppets in front of pictures of Stranger Things projected on a big screen and on which we see the young Joseph Quinn playing the same piece, headband in his hair and denim jacket on his shoulders.

After the broadcast of the last episode of Stranger Things, the number of plays of this piece, released 36 years ago, exploded on streaming platforms. From 184th place on July 1, it climbed to the 12th place of the most streamed tracks in the world on Spotify in just five days. Same breakthrough on Apple Music and Deezer, with respectively 35th and 37th places in the ranking.

“We were blown away”had reacted the members of Metallica when the episode was released. “The way (they) integrated the music into Stranger Things has always been next level, so we were more than happy to not only include Master of Puppetsbut to have such a crucial scene around it.”
