The actor of Creed III was arrested in New York on March 25 and charged with assault and aggravated harassment by his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. According to court documents obtained by Insider on Tuesday, the star ofAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania filed a counterclaim with the New York City police on June 21 against the 30-year-old plaintiff.

In his complaint, filed the day after a court appearance, he claimed that it was she who assaulted him, and not the other way around, during an argument. He explained that she was “drunk and hysterical” and scratched, slapped and grabbed his face. The complainant had previously accused him of breaking her finger, twisting her arm and hitting her ear, causing it to bleed.

The actor’s defense attorney, Priya Chaudhry, confirmed to Insider that New York police decided to take Grace Jabbari into custody, at least to question her about Jonathan Majors’ claims, but that Manhattan prosecutors reversed that decision. “From the beginning, we have said that Jonathan Majors is innocent and has been proven to be the victim here,” the attorney told the New York Post in a statement.

The actor is due to stand trial on August 3.
