Actor and director Samuel Theis targeted by rape complaint

The complaint was filed by a technician from the film “I Swear”, directed by Samuel Theis, for facts dating back to the summer of 2023 during filming.

The actor and director Samuel Theis is the target of a complaint for rape, franceinfo learned Tuesday January 9 from the Metz prosecutor, confirming information from Telerama and of Release. This complaint was filed at the end of July. According to a source close to the matter, this complaint was filed by a film technician I sweardirected by Samuel Theis, for events which occurred in the summer of 2023 during filming in Moselle.

Following this complaint, a preliminary investigation was opened for acts of rape, Yves Badorc, the Metz prosecutor, told franceinfo. Since this simple complaint was filed, a complaint with civil action was filed in mid-November, again for rape.

A second complaint filed

This second complaint, filed by the same complainant, is currently being studied by the senior investigating judge, according to a close source. It is not yet in the hands of the prosecutor. In the vast majority of cases, this type of complaint leads to the opening of a judicial investigation.

Samuel Theis, 45, from Forbach (Moselle), won the Caméra d’Or at Cannes in 2014 for Party Girl, co-directed with Claire Burger and Marie Amachoukeli. The actor is notably featured inAnatomy of a fallby Justine Triet, last Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
