The filming of the western Rust, with Alec Baldwin, turned tragic in the state of New Mexico (United States). The actor accidentally shot the director of photography of the film and injured his director, we learned on the night of Thursday 21 to Friday 22 October. According to investigators who went there, the drama seems to be linked to a gun used as an accessory on the set. According to the site Deadline, specialized in entertainment, Alec Baldwin would have activated this pistol during a rehearsal, without suspecting that live ammunition was there.

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, was evacuated by helicopter to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Director Joel Souza has meanwhile been admitted to intensive care. An investigation is underway and production has been halted for the moment. The filming site is now blocked.
