Images circulated on Tuesday show another muscular intervention by police officers, this time in a restaurant in the Sainte-Foy borough, in western Quebec.

Minister Guilbault qualifies these images as worrying and she decrees that this event must also be examined independently.

Images of a first police intervention near a licensed establishment in Grande-Allée, Quebec, showed a police officer voluntarily throwing snow in the face of a black-skinned teenager immobilized on the ground, face down , by several of his colleagues.

After the distribution of these images, the head of the SPVQ, Denis Turcotte, indicated that the professional standards team had gone to work during the weekend, in particular to provide him with clarifications on what happened this past weekend. that night. Subsequently, five police officers were suspended from their duties.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister François Legault rejected the opposition’s request for the intervention of the Independent Investigation Bureau (BEI) about this first police intervention.
