Two journalists from The Press won awards from the Canadian Journalism Association (CJA) on Saturday evening. Martin Tremblay shone in the Photojournalism category, while Isabelle Dubé stood out in the Scoop category.
They are among the winners of the prestigious 2023 CAJ awards program, which recognizes the best investigative journalism in Canada.
Martin Tremblay was selected for the photos accompanying the chronicle “Life in a Dead City”, by Isabelle Hachey, which captured daily life in Bakhmout, a Ukrainian town cut off from the world during the war.
Isabelle Dubé was selected for her report “Bogus offers to raise prices”, which revealed the subterfuge of a real estate broker who lined his pockets with bogus purchase offers.
François Cardinal, the deputy editor of The Press, was delighted with these two awards. “These are prestigious awards which confirm that The Press ranks among the best media in the country, distinguishing itself in two categories in which we have invested a lot in recent years: photography and investigation,” he commented.
The winners in each category were revealed Saturday at an awards gala in Toronto. The event concluded the ACJ’s annual national conference, which this year had the theme “Journalism and How to Survive It.”.
