Accused of six rapes and sexual assault, French footballer Benjamin Mendy, who plays for Manchester City, is due to appear Wednesday, November 17 before the court in Stockport, on the outskirts of Manchester (United Kingdom). “The French player could make it known whether he intends to plead guilty or not”, reporte journalist Matthieu Boisseau, live from London for France 3 12/13.
The day before, the accusations against Benjamin Mendy were even heavier, “with two new rapes”, specifies the journalist. The latter adds: “He is therefore now charged and in detention for six rapes and one sexual assault, acts allegedly committed between October 2020 and August 2021”. The four complainants, including one minor, are 16 years of age or older. “The trial of the French player is due to open on January 24, continues Matthieu Boisseau. If he pleads not guilty, and therefore without asking for a remission of sentence, he risks life imprisonment. If he is convicted, he risks at least several years in prison. ”
