Accused of sex crimes, Luc Wiseman will undergo his preliminary investigation in July

Accused of sex crimes against a minor, Quebec producer Luc Wiseman has chosen to undergo a preliminary investigation which will take place at the end of July.

The 65-year-old man was not present Tuesday at the Montreal courthouse: he was instead represented by his lawyer before the judge, as he is entitled to.

This stage of the preliminary inquiry allows an accused to determine the strength of the evidence the Crown has against him.

Luc Wiseman faces five counts, including sexual assault, sexual interference and assault on a person under the age of 16. He is also accused of production and possession of child pornography.

A publication ban prohibits revealing the slightest detail that would identify the victim, who was a minor at the time of the alleged facts.

The acts for which Luc Wiseman is accused would have been committed between November 2018 and April 2021, in Montreal and the Outaouais. The man was arrested last May.

Owner of Avanti Groupe, which notably co-produces the program Everybody talks about it, he also has other well-known productions to his credit, such as The Little Life, A boy a girl, Lie detectors and Hot pepper. He had left his functions in the production house shortly after his arrest.

His preliminary inquiry will take place on July 28 and 29 and it is expected that children will testify.
