It was the fourth time that the French international and Manchester City (England) player, Benjamin Mendy, demanded his release. Friday, January 7, the British justice ruled and accepted his release on bail and placed the world champion under judicial supervision.

Placed in pre-trial detention since August 27, Benjamin Mendy is accused of seven rapes on four women and sexual assault on a fifth victim. These facts would have taken place between October 2020 and August 2021. Placed first in a prison in Liverpool (UK), he was transferred on December 23 to a Manchester prison (UK). Benjamin Mendy’s trial is due to be held at the end of June and the player faces life imprisonment if he pleads not guilty.
