Two French people were arrested in Iran, during a tourist stay. What do we know about this couple, accused of espionage by the Iranian authorities? “It is a French couple, Cécile Colère and her companion. They live in the Paris region. They are both teachers. The couple’s wife has important responsibilities at the Force Ouvrière union”, indicates Christophe Gascard, live from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two Frenchmen were on a trip “privately, during the Easter holidays”, specifies the journalist, who declares that“Currently, Iran is shaken by regular demonstrations by teachers. We still do not know under what conditions their arrest took place. Did the two Frenchmen have links with Iranian teachers who were demonstrating?” asks Christophe Gascard. It is impossible to know for the moment. The Quai d’Orsay has for its part denounced this evening “an arrest without grounds and calls for their immediate release”, concludes Christophe Gascard.
