Christophe Jose Folla, 70, a prominent figure in real estate in Quebec, has been attending his release investigation since Monday at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse.

He was accused last Thursday of having conspired with individuals and ordered arson attacks on buildings belonging to a competing agency in the world of real estate brokerage, Royal LePage.

The businessman had been arrested the day before by the Sûreté du Québec. He has since been detained.

The alleged events occurred between September 2017 and January 2024.

A court order prevents us from releasing details of the evidence that were revealed at the bail hearing stage.

Same thing for the reasons for the decision of Judge Gilles Garneau.

The accused will therefore be able to return to live at home rather than in prison while awaiting his trial. He will have to respect several conditions, including the imposition of a curfew at night. He also had to surrender his passports and will not be able to leave the province.

A sum of $200,000 must also be deposited as security. If he violates one of his conditions, this money could be lost.

Please note: it is rare that such a large amount must be deposited.

Two other people also had to agree to pay a total of $200,000 in the event of non-compliance with conditions, namely his wife and his business partner.

Since then, he is no longer a director and no longer has any connection with Sutton Quebec.

On Monday, Folla’s co-accused, Alain Marc Nahmias, was also released, but on condition of wearing an electronic ankle bracelet.
