Accumulation of punctures in Estrie: citizens denounce the passivity of the MTQ

Citizens of three municipalities deplore the inaction of the Ministry of Transport to improve the condition of a road where gravel was recently added, causing several punctures.

Since mid-July, citizens have reported more than twenty flat tires on rue de l’Église, located between St-François-Xavier-de-Brompton and Kingsbury.

Citizens denounce not only the size of the gravel, but also the presence of huge ruts that make driving difficult.

Called to react, the Ministry of Transport (MTQ) was unable to provide explanations during the day. A citizen, however, received this response following his complaint.

“The Ministry of Transport only uses gravel that has previously undergone granulometric tests. It can also take a few weeks before the compaction of a road is optimal.

Between July 26 and August 3, 2022, the MTQ claims to have carried out several interventions: corrections with the grader, spread dust suppressant, removal of excess uncompacted stone and flake calcium were extended.

She adds that her team will continue to monitor the condition of Church Street and make further fixes as needed.
