There will still be a shortage of teachers in primary schools (nursery and primary schools) at the start of the next school year, after the first results of the eligibility tests for school teacher competitions (CRPE), franceinfo learned on Wednesday May 8 from SNUipp -FSU, majority national union of school teachers and professors, confirming information from Parisian.
The first written results of the recruitment competition for school teachers are almost all known, with the exception of the academies of Nancy and Mayotte. According to Guislaine David, co-general secretary and spokesperson for SNUipp-FSU, contacted by franceinfo on Wednesday evening, “they are substantially identical to the year 2023 with an average ratio of 1.46 candidates per position”, compared to 1.42 in 2023, 1.61 in 2022. In 2008, this ratio was 2.22 candidates per position.
The start of the school year promises to be “already complicated” in certain academies
Some academies are even particularly affected by the lack of candidates. This is the case of the Créteil academy (0.71 candidates per position, compared to 0.65 in 2023), the Versailles academy (0.60 candidates per position compared to 0.65 in 2023) and in Guyana ( 0.40 compared to 0.48 in 2023). “This is very worrying because it portends losses of positions during admission, particularly in academies that are regularly in deficit.according to Guislaine David. In these academies, which have already been in deficit for several years, the start of the school year already promises to be complicated and recourse to contract workers will still have to be made.
The Paris academy, for its part, sees its number of candidates per position continue to decline, with a ratio of 1.35 candidates per position compared to 1.83 in 2022 and 1.43 in 2023. “It is possible that this academy does not fill up at the end of admission and is in any case unable to recruit a sufficient additional list”, according to SNUipp-FSU.
