According to Statistics Canada | People are traveling more than in 2021, but less than before the pandemic

(OTTAWA) Tourism, both in Canada and abroad, rebounded significantly in October from a year earlier, says Statistics Canada.

According to the federal agency, the number of return trips made by Canadian residents stood at 3.3 million, which is almost four times the number recorded in October 2021.

The number of international arrivals to Canada (non-resident visitors and returning Canadians) reached almost three-quarters (74.8%) of the level recorded in October 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since 1er October, all border restrictions against COVID-19 have been lifted, including vaccinations, the requirement to use the ArriveCAN app, and testing and quarantine requirements, for all travelers arriving in Canada by land, air or sea.

Statistics Canada said the number of air trips rose 5.5% in October from the previous month, the biggest increase since February 2020.

Despite this, the number of trips to overseas countries by Canadian residents stood at 62.0% of the level seen in 2019, before the pandemic.
