(Saint-Zotique) A second child who was seriously injured in an accident at the beginning of the month on Highway 20 in the Saint-Zotique sector, in Montérégie, is dead.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confirmed Thursday that a 10-year-old boy had succumbed to his injuries. The police service could not, however, specify the day on which the death was pronounced.
The major collision between a truck and a vehicle, which occurred on July 2, initially left the five occupants of the vehicle seriously injured, two adults and three children.
The day after the accident, authorities confirmed the death of a 13-year-old girl. The other three victims are currently in stable condition, according to the SQ.
The investigation is continuing in order to shed light on this fatal collision.
The first information from the SQ indicated that the driver of the truck would not have been able to stop in time in front of the slowdown in traffic and would then have struck the sport utility vehicle.
