Route 117 is one of the most dangerous in Quebec, reported an article by The Press Monday. The same day, a new accident was added to the list, claiming two victims.
The road exit occurred around 4:15 p.m., at exit 140 of route 117, which then took the name of boulevard du Curé-Labelle. A 37-year-old driver lost control. After several barrels, the car ended up in the embankment, on the roof.
An eight-year-old girl was found dead in the cabin. The driver was taken to hospital where she was also pronounced dead.
Reconstruction agents were assigned to the scene to determine what caused the road trip, said Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec. Witnesses to the scene will be interviewed.
Monday, The Press reported that a survivor of another accident on Route 117 in Sainte-Adèle, Johanne Lortie, is considering taking legal action against the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) for criminal negligence.
