The violent swerve occurred around 2:35 p.m. on Route 339, not far from the intersection of Rang Saint-Esprit.
Authorities say the driver of the cube truck involved in the accident sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
His passenger, however, was less fortunate. Suffering from very serious injuries, the latter was taken to hospital in critical condition. The doctors fear for his life.
A portion of Route 339 was completely closed to traffic to allow Sûreté du Québec collision investigation specialists to establish the circumstances of the road trip.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
