Dedicated to thrills, the Luna Park in Fréjus in the Var caused the amazement and anxiety of visitors on the night of Saturday June 25 to Sunday June 26, 2022! Two young people had taken their place in the main attraction of the fair, La Catapulte, to be propelled into the air by large rubber bands pulled towards the ground. However, one of the ropes quickly gave way, leaving the passengers heading dangerously to the right. Fortunately, if the scene filmed on video was frightening, it did not end in tragedy. The girl, quickly taken care of by the emergency services, was only slightly injured in the foot.
An investigation is however open to determine the causes of this accident which could have turned out very badly. According to Luna Park director Rudy Maury, the rubber bands were new and the security systems were functional. It would then be a quality defect of the material which could then be called into question. “The manufacturer has recalled the batches (…) We are awaiting the arrival of an expert“, indicated the manager of the amusement park to Var Matin. The attraction is obviously closed pending investigations.
In addition, no complaint has been filed by the victims of the accident. The fact that the elastic loosened at the very beginning of the lap of the carousel and not in full propulsion made it possible to avoid the worst. We can remember another accident which had more serious consequences, such as at the Le Mans funfair in 2021.
