The young employee of La Grande Roue de Montréal involved in an accident succumbed to his injuries, a spokesperson for the Old Montreal attraction confirmed.
“He unfortunately passed away. Our thoughts are with our employee and those close to them, ”said La Grande Roue spokesperson Mathieu Filion.
Since this is a work-related accident, the Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) is currently on site.
Pending the results of the investigation, Mr. Filion did not want to comment further on this sad event that occurred on Christmas day.
A call was received around 1:00 p.m. shortly after the accident. The 22-year-old deceased was an employee of the attraction located in the Old Port of Montreal. He was carrying out maintenance work at the time of the incident.
