A 31-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by two high-speed vehicles that collided overnight from Saturday to Sunday at the intersection of Jean-Talon Street and Saint-Laurent Boulevard in Montreal.
The crash happened around 3:15 a.m.
After the initial collision, the vehicles rammed into two other parked vehicles, before hitting the pedestrian.
The victim suffered serious head injuries. His death was finally announced in the middle of the morning.
A 26-year-old man also suffered injuries and was taken to hospital, but his life is now believed to be out of danger.
A 45-year-old man was arrested for driving while impaired, then transported to the hospital also to proceed to the evaluation of his state of health.
“A perimeter has been erected to protect the scene, the investigators of the Collision Investigations module are already on the scene, also the reconstructionist at the accident scene. They will try to establish the causes and circumstances of the event to understand what the movements were before the impact,” Véronique Dubuc, SPVM spokesperson, told TVA Nouvelles.
