(Acapulco) Defending champion Alex de Minaur defeated Sebastian Ofner 6-1, 6-3 on Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals of the tournament in Acapulco, Mexico.
Third seed de Minaur will face fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the next round. Tsitsipas defeated Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 7-6 (6).
De Minaur has 10 titles on the ATP circuit, while Tsitsipas has won seven. Tsitsipas, who has won two Masters 1000s, has still not won an ATP 500 category tournament. His record in the ATP finals 500 is 0-10, including a loss at Acapulco in 2021.

De Minaur became the first reigning champion of this tournament to reach the quarter-finals since Dominic Thiem in 2017.
In other matches, Dominik Koepfer eliminated eighth seed Frances Tiafoe 6-4, 5-7, 6-1.
For his part, Jack Draper qualified for the next round with a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Yoshihito Nishioka. Draper will play Miomir Kecmanovic, who beat Daniel Altmaier 6-4, 6-4.
