Academy Awards Museum Gala | Quentin Tarantino, Rita Moreno and Paul Mescal will be honored

Rita Moreno and Paul Mescal will reunite with Quentin Tarantino in October, but it’s not for a movie, at least for now.

All three will be honored at the prestigious Oscar Academy Museum Gala, the organization announced Monday.

The event is only in its fourth year, but has established itself as an important gathering of entertainment’s biggest stars. Its guest list rivals that of the Oscars.

This year’s co-chairs are Nicole Kidman, Salma Hayek Pinault, Eva Longoria, Tyler Perry and Academy Museum Trustee Dr. Eric Esrailian.

Rita Moreno will win the Icon Award for her career’s significant global impact.

The newly announced host committee also includes many Hollywood stars, including Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Dwayne Johnson, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, Regina King, as well as Jennifer Lawrence.

Quebec director Denis Villeneuve is also part of it.

“The Academy Museum Gala celebrates the power, global impact and indelible importance of cinema,” said Amy Homma, the museum’s new director and president, in a press release.

Paul Mescal will receive the Vantage Award.

She added that the honorees’ “groundbreaking achievements, cinematic influence and demonstrated versatility will continue to inspire generations of artists and filmmakers.”

Mescal will receive the Vantage Award, given to emerging artists, Moreno will win the Icon Award for his career’s significant global impact, and Tarantino will receive the Luminary Award for expanding the “creative possibilities of cinema.”

The event, scheduled for October 19 in Los Angeles, serves as a fundraiser for the museum, particularly for its exhibitions, educational initiatives and public programming.
