Abortion | The Press

A question on the right to abortion should appear on the ballots of around ten states on November 5.

Traditionally, the issue has been successful in mobilizing Democratic voters. Kamala Harris defends access to abortion and the return of the right – across the country – to terminate a pregnancy until the fetus is viable. Polls show that a majority of Americans support this position.

For his part, Donald Trump has changed his position on terminations of pregnancies several times over the years. He suggested that he would support the measure proposed in Florida – where he lives – aimed at extending the right to abortion (currently limited to 6 weeks of pregnancy) to the viability of the fetus, before walking back his words. He publicly distanced himself from Project 2025, a roadmap prepared by former collaborators and allies, which proposes the withdrawal from the market of mifepristone tablets, a synthetic steroid used in women as an abortifacient.
