A young boy was found unresponsive by emergency services in a small lake near Barraute, Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Tuesday afternoon. He was transported in critical condition and transferred to a Montreal hospital.
The tragedy occurred at Lac Roy, a body of water located about fifteen kilometers west of Barraute, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. The six-year-old boy, who was there with relatives, found himself lifeless in the water.
“There would be no criminal element,” says Ève Brochu-Joubert, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 3:15 p.m. They performed life support on the boy and transported him to hospital in critical condition. He was then transferred to a Montreal facility.
We fear for his life, said Mr.me Brochu Joubert.
