The CISSS de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue recommends that the population of the MRCs of Vallée-de-l’Or and Abitibi confine themselves due to the smoke from the forest fires raging in the region.
Containment is declared from Saturday until Sunday at 9 a.m., the CISSS said in a press release on Saturday.
Great vigilance is also required for all Témiscamingians, says the public institution.
The population is invited to stay inside their residence with their pets. She is also asked to close the windows and limit air exchange with the outside and not to leave vulnerable people alone and to avoid intense physical activity.
People most vulnerable to smoke are children, pregnant women, the elderly, people with asthma, people with heart problems and those with respiratory conditions, such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
Elsewhere in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the CISSS recommends avoiding intense physical activity.
The deterioration in air quality comes from an intense plume of smoke which broke out at 6 p.m. Friday, explains the CISSS.
