Abitibi-Témiscamingue | Cyclist dies after being hit by a car

(Senneterre) A cyclist died Tuesday afternoon following a collision on Route 113 South in Senneterre, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, reports the Sûreté du Québec.


Emergency services were called to the scene of the incident around 3 p.m. Initial information gathered by police indicates that the cyclist, a 69-year-old man, was struck by an 84-year-old female motorist while both were traveling northbound on Route 113 South.

The cyclist was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The SQ indicates that an investigation is underway and that Route 113 South has been partially closed to traffic so that a police officer trained in collision investigations, dispatched to the scene, can determine the causes and circumstances of the incident. Traffic is alternating.
