(Amos) A trip to the lake turned tragic for a man after he fell from his paddle board into Lac Beauchamp, located in the small municipality of Trécesson, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, on Saturday.
Emergency services were notified of the 29-year-old’s disappearance around 11.15am on Saturday.
Searches then began on the water and along the edge during the day with patrol officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and firefighters from the area.
“Divers from the Sûreté du Québec headed in the direction and they were the ones who located the body of the 29-year-old man who was inanimate. He was taken to the hospital center, where unfortunately his death was confirmed, ”sergeant Camille Savoie, who is spokesperson for the provincial police force, explained Sunday morning.
According to information from the SQ, the man was not wearing a life jacket when he fell from his paddle board.
Divers discovered the man’s body around 9.45pm on Saturday evening.
