An elderly pedestrian in his fifties died on Saturday after being struck by a motorist the night before in Macamic, Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

The collision took place around 9:30 p.m. on Highway 101 near 10e and 1er rank, confirmed Friday Louis-Philippe Bibeau, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
The man was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later. The driver of the vehicle was taken care of for a nervous shock.
Highway 101, blocked overnight Friday, was reopened on Saturday morning.
