They are back, 40 years later! The Swedes of the ABBA group will release their new album on Friday November 5th, Trip, four decades after The Visitors, the one we thought was their last record together.
Already entered in the history of music, for a long time one of the groups who have sold the most in history, Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn and Anni-Frid offer a hybrid return, without really putting themselves forward. Between voices from the past and pieces worked on in recent years.
No doubt, we are in familiar territory: that moment when, for the past 40 years, the dance floor stops. ABBA is the mechanics of the tube, intact, that worked with success in the 70s. And the new songs recorded over the last three years retain this aura, carried by the more mature and touching voices of the two singers, Agnetha and Anni- Frid.
But to get to ten tracks on the album, it was also necessary to recover older material. Just A Notion, for example, old song never really released, on which we have kept the vocals of the time.
And so it is a somewhat feigned impression of going back and forth between two ages, amplified by the concert with holograms only scheduled for London in 2022. ABBA is a memory, a nostalgia, a myth maintained by fans who, for their part, the volume of pre-orders of the album shows it, are waiting for the return more than ever.
