Abandoned kittens saved at the last minute by police

Luna and Tiggy have become the mascots of the Gannat gendarmerie, in Allier, for whom “the protection of animal life is simply part of the missions”.

It all starts at the beginning of October in Allier, says the newspaper Parisian. At a bend in the road, on the edge of a wood, two gendarmes are patrolling when they hear meowing in a ditch. They then discover two kittens, Luna and Tiggy, in poor condition. These vulnerable kittens, just two or three days old, were abandoned, injured and attacked by an army of hornets and were on the verge of death. So Loris, one of the two gendarmes on patrol, aged only 23, decides to bring them back to the barracks and adopt them.

However, after saving them, the police could have entrusted them to a shelter, without worrying about their fate, after all they had already done a lot when we know that a cat is abandoned every two minutes in France. But on the contrary, the gendarmes take turns on guard, day and night, every four hours, to feed the kittens with formula. Then finally they decide to keep them in their lives and the kittens become the new miniature tigers of the Gannat gendarmerie.

Cats have long been demonized, designated as the representatives of witches with supernatural powers. However, for some humans who have kept a paw on the good side of humanity, it is very difficult to resist their unpassable gaze. This look that reflects the light and sizes you up without judging you for 10,000 years that cats have shared our lives. “Safeguarding animal life is quite simply part of the police’s missions. A horse, a dog, a cow, a cat in danger, we must act,” Loris explains to Parisian. Moreover, the very humble Giacometti, who did not like being called an artist, affirmed without hesitation that in a fire, if he had to choose between the most beautiful Rembrandt and saving a cat, he would choose the cat, because “life is always better than a work of art.”
