A20 motorway cut in Limoges this Wednesday morning “for an indefinite period”, big traffic jams in sight

As part of the work currently underway for the construction of a bridge spanning the A20 motorway in Limoges, between the districts of La Bastide and Puy Ponchet, a “technical incident”, the nature of which we do not know, occurred on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, indicates the Prefecture of Haute-Vienne in a press release. This incident leads the master builder “to stop the work as it is, in order to secure the work before considering continuing the work.“The diversion of the A20 motorway, put in place at night during this phase of the works, will therefore be maintained until the security of the work is confirmed.

Consequently and to guarantee the safety of users, the A20 motorway will remain closed after 6 a.m. this Wednesday, June 22, 2022 for an indefinite period. Traffic therefore promises to be particularly complex when crossing Limoges, as the diversions put in place for the night may have difficulty absorbing the flow of traffic observed during the day.

As a reminder, the following diversions are in place for local users:

– in the direction of the South (in the direction of Paris – province) users must exit the motorway at interchange n°30 “Limoges-Nord”, take boulevard Robert Schuman, avenue Louis Armand, avenue Jean Monnet ( RD250), avenue Benoît Frachon (RD250), route du Palais (RD29) to join the A20 motorway via the entrance ramp to interchange no. 33 “Limoges Centre”.

– in the direction of the North (direction province – Paris) users must exit the motorway at interchange n°33 “Limoges-Centre”, take the route du Palais (RD29), avenue Benoît Frachon (RD250), Avenue Jean Monnet (RD250), Boulevard Robert Schuman, to join the A20 motorway via the entrance ramp to interchange no. 30 “Limoges-Nord”.
