This Québec-France co-production, which is one of eight feature films to which the Société de développement des entreprises culturelle (SODEC) has just granted financial support, will paint the portrait of Necropolis, a city infested with zombies, which – surprisingly – do not demonstrate no interest in eating human flesh. While a powerful corporation intends to eliminate these outcasts who bring nothing to the state, three merry men try to save their grandmother who has been kidnapped from the clutches of the company.
As Turbo Kid, The Z Word will be shot in English. Christian Films (The hungry, The Bolduc) and Full House (King, Bang Gang — a modern love story) will produce the offering scripted by François Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell, aka the RKSS collective.
Released in 2015, the post-apocalyptic action comedy Turbo Kid had distinguished herself in several international festivals. It notably starred Laurence Leboeuf.
Other co-production feature film projects selected for financial assistance include Allah is not obligated by French director Zaven Najjar, the animated film ellithe sci-fi drama The beast, As alive as possible, Turtles, The Braid (The braid) and In Cold Night.
