A young woman was able to call for help herself after falling into the icy waters of the St. Lawrence River on Sunday morning near the Big Wheel in the Old Port of Montreal.
The victim, a 19-year-old woman, was rescued by Montreal firefighters after she managed to call for help.
Subsequently, she was taken care of by paramedics, summarized Steve Kouloumentas, spokesperson for Urgences-santé.
The woman suffered from hypothermia, but was conscious and breathing well when taken to hospital, he said.
