A young man who was snowboarding lost his life after being involved in an accident Saturday evening, around 7:00 p.m., at the Bromont ski resort, in Estrie.
Several media report that he succumbed to his injuries, according to what the Bromont police have confirmed.
Details surrounding the accident were not specified, but the seriousness of the accident was suspected when the snowboarder left the scene in an ambulance.
“It is with deep sadness that we inform you that a tragic accident involving a young man took place on the mountain this evening,” officials said on the Facebook page Bromont, montagne d’experiences, Saturday evening.
The message specified that an internal investigation had been launched to determine the circumstances of the accident, but that the Bromont police would also investigate.
“This tragic event is deeply moving. Psychological support is offered to the teams directly involved in the intervention. All our thoughts go out to the young man’s family and loved ones.
