A young paraglider dies following an accident during the French championships in Haute-Savoie

A young paraglider, Timo Leonetti, lost his life during the French championships in his discipline in Plaine Joux (Haute-Savoie), this Friday, June 14. He was transported to Annecy hospital on Thursday June 13 after a paragliding accident. He was considered a prodigy of his generation.

The free sailing federation is in mourning. It communicated on its social networks the death of one of its young members. The drama unfolded this Thursday, June 13 during the French paragliding championships. He was transported to Annecy hospital where he died.

Aged 22, the federation pays tribute to “a talented pilot” of which “his passion and dedication to paragliding was unparalleled, and he was respected and admired by his peers for his expertise and sportsmanship.”

Originally from Corsica, his commune shares his sadness and remembers‘”an extraordinary young man with a contagious smile.” On social networks many paragliders greet “a talented young person” “funny, kind”. He had won numerous high-level competitions including the XContest.

The week of competition was disrupted by bad weather conditions.
