A young man shot and injured in Saint-Léonard

(Montreal) A young man who was found injured late Wednesday evening in the parking lot of a small shopping center in northeast Montreal is likely the victim of a shooting that occurred earlier in the same area.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montreal (SPVM) reported Thursday morning that the 18-year-old man’s life was no longer in danger, but it reported no arrests in connection with the case.

It appears that an occupant of a moving vehicle opened fire around 11:10 p.m. towards the young man who was traveling on rue Bonpart, near the intersection of rue Valdombre, in a residential area of the Borough of Saint-Leonard.

The victim was later located less than a kilometer away, in the parking lot of a small shopping center located on Bélanger Street, near the intersection of Lacordaire Boulevard.

Two security perimeters had to be erected by the police: the first at the scene of the shooting, where projectile impacts could be observed, and the second at the place where the young man was found injured.

Dogs from the SPVM canine squad searched the scene. On Thursday, images from surveillance cameras will be viewed and witnesses will be questioned.

When his state of health allows it, the victim will in turn be met by the investigators.
