While trying to climb onto the roof of a line 6 metro in Paris, a young man was seriously injured on Saturday September 23 at Bel-Air station, RATP told France Bleu Paris. A police investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of this accident. The young man practiced “train surfing”. This involves getting on train, metro or RER carriages, often filming yourself and then broadcasting the video on the networks.

The young man was quickly taken care of by firefighters and the Network Protection and Security Group (GPSR), then transported to hospital. Traffic was interrupted from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. between Nation and Daumesnil.

The RATP reminds that the practice of “train surfing” is “reckless, irresponsible, extremely dangerous” and punished with a sentence of up to one year in prison and a fine of 15,000 euros.
