The 16-year-old young man, arrested Tuesday in Haute-Savoie after having made threats on the social network Telegram, was presented to an investigating judge on Friday April 26 and indicted on the charge of participation in an association of terrorist criminals with a view to preparing one or more crimes of personal injury. In accordance with the requisitions of the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office, he was placed under judicial supervision.

His arrest took place following his statements on social networks announcing his desire to make an explosive belt with a view to dying as a martyr. The Pnat opened a judicial investigation this Friday to “terrorist criminal association with a view to preparing crimes of personal injury”. It is a question of determining whether the young man had “effectively brought its projects to fruition through preparatory steps”, specifies the prosecution. The facts are not “not established at this stage of the investigations”.

On Wednesday, during the search of the young man’s parents’ home, investigators found a declaration of allegiance to the Islamic State, according to information from France Inter from sources close to the investigation. The young man, already known for radicalization, admitted to having planned to commit a terrorist act in the La Défense district during the Olympic Games, with a rifle or with an explosive belt, France Inter learned from the same sources.
