A 19-year-old man was arrested after a short chase in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu early Saturday morning. He could face charges of dangerous driving, absconding, and driving while impaired.

“Around 2 a.m., the police officers of the MRC du Haut-Richelieu were on a speedometer operation when they caught a speeding vehicle on Highway 35, near kilometer 33 in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu,” explains Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesman Nicolas Scholtus.
They captured the suspect’s vehicle at a speed of 146 km / h, and the latter fled when the police tried to intercept him “using their emergency device”. A pursuit of about 15 km followed, until the fugitive stopped near the airport of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
There were no injuries in the pursuit.
Suspecting abilities impaired by drugs, the police made him pass the tests of coordination of movement before taking him in front of an evaluating officer. The young johannais was released by way of summons and the date of his appearance remains to be determined.
His driver’s license was suspended and his vehicle was seized.
