One year after the death of three police officers in Villeneuve-d’Ascq (North) – hit by a car in a road accident while they were on duty – a white march is organized on Tuesday May 21 in the afternoon in the city center of Lille, reports France Bleu Nord. Behind this initiative, the relatives of the victims.
“This white march is to be able to continue to make Manon, Paul and Steven exist”explains Isabelle Raux-Wervaert, the young woman’s mother. “We had to pay tribute to them, honor their memory. It’s also a way of thanking all the people who have helped us over the past year.”
The families asked Lille street artist Mos Art to create a banner with the faces of the three victims. The meeting is at 2 p.m. on Boulevard Victor Hugo. The procession will leave at 2:30 p.m. towards Place de la République. Those who join the march are invited to wear a white top, without banners or distinctive political symbols. An official ceremony is then planned at the prefecture at 3:45 p.m., reserved for relatives of the three police officers.
On May 21, 2023, the three police officers from the Roubaix police station were killed in a road accident in Villeneuve-d’Ascq while they were on duty. Manon, Steven and Paul were 24 and 25 years old. Their car was hit by a vehicle traveling the wrong way. The driver was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. He died in the accident, his passenger was seriously injured. Emmanuel Macron paid tribute to the three police officers killed. Gérald Darmanin went to the Roubaix police station.
