A year later, Soitec still on strike: employees say stop

Soitec recently reached one billion in sales. A result achieved thanks toto employees who wet their shirts“, explains Fabrice Lallement, union representative. But Friday evening, June 10, when the weekend night team had been on duty for about an hour, the employees spontaneously decided to say “stop”.

Since then, production is “almost at a standstill“, according to the union delegate. While tensions had already been latent for a few months between the Bernin company (Isère) and its employees, with a one week walkout last yearemployees continue to demand an improvement in their working conditions.

Working conditions

Already last year, the CGT had mobilized for an improvement of these working conditions. New groups had been formed, but that did not change things. We have employees who are in real distress“, explains Fabrice Lallement.

The strike therefore left spontaneously and for an indefinite period. “We can assume that it will be taken up by the week shifts, since there is very strong support among the employees. Last year, the weekend teams also went on strike to support the strike of the weekday teams, who demanded a bonus“, advances the union representative.

A meeting with the leaders is scheduled for Monday, June 13 at 10 a.m.
