A word from the deputy editor | The Olympics are hot at La Presse

We don’t yet know whether the Paris Olympics will be well organized, whether the weather will be nice and warm, or whether there will be a new Prime Minister in the National Assembly… But one thing is certain: these Games, held in the majestic setting of Paris, will be spectacular.

And The Press will be there to bring them to life for you as if you were there, in text and images!

Whether you’re a die-hard follower of the events or medal standings, or you prefer images of the competitions, behind-the-scenes looks at the Games or inspiring stories from athletes, you’ll find all of this and more in the coming weeks.

The Paris Olympic Games will begin on July 26.

Our journalists Nicholas Richard, Simon Drouin and Katherine Harvey-Pinard will be there, as well as columnist Alexandre Pratt and photographer Olivier Jean.

In recent weeks, we have published portraits of the best Quebec hopefuls, as well as “At a Glance” screens on different events. Throughout the Games, you will be able to follow the daily schedule, the results, the complete medal table as well as the best photos from our photographer.

The Olympic Games are also human stories, moments of pure emotion, and our journalists will be your eyes and ears to tell you about them, day after day.

They will also take turns sending us “postcards” from Paris, with their observations on the City of Lights, local culture and the Olympic Games in general.

Every day, we will gather together on one screen some publications on social networks that have caused a stir, or some images that have gone around the world for good or bad reasons.

In a more playful space, we will ask you a trick question about the Games every day. There will also be “did you know” facts about the Olympics and Canadian performances throughout history.

So let yourself be carried away by the magic of sport, and make way for the Games in a spectacular setting.
