Domestic violence: a woman saved by the police thanks to the “serious danger telephone”

Domestic violence: a woman saved by the police thanks to the “serious danger telephone” – (France 2)

Wednesday February 7 evening, an armed man went to his ex-partner’s house. Thanks to her “serious danger telephone”, given to victims of violence, they contacted the police who intervened quickly.

In Noisy-le-Grand (Seine-Saint-Denis), a 24-year-old woman and her two young children undoubtedly escaped the worst. On the evening of Wednesday, February 7, her violent ex-partner, armed with a gun, came knocking on her door. She alerted the police, who intervened. After exchanges of fire in the stairwell, a police officer was injured, while the attacker was shot dead. The 26-year-old man had already been convicted in 2019 for domestic violence against another woman. Since January, he has been under judicial supervision for new violence against the ex-partner to whom he went. He was forbidden to approach her.

Police on scene in less than four minutes

The police arrived on site in less than four minutes thanks to the “serious danger telephone” that the victim had. It allows you to call for help, 24 hours a day, discreetly, by clicking a button three times. In less than ten seconds, the woman is put in contact with a remote assistant who geolocates her and alerts the police through a specially dedicated channel. The device can only be given to women who have filed a complaint and whose violent partner has been convicted.
